I’m getting behind the wheels of steel for the first time in ages on May 30th. I’ll be DJing the first of hopefully many party/happy hour events we’ve dubbed The Mingle. The whole thing will be taking place at Lolita Bar on the scenic Lower East Side from 6-10, and I’ll be sharing the music selecting duties with the very great Ryan Chapman. I’m guessing a good selection of songs driven by organs and punctuated with handclaps will be played.

I bought this shirt at a flea market in Boca Raton with my bar mitzvah money. It was the first band shirt I ever wore and always makes me think of how the Beasties changed my life, got me interested in music and culture I would have never otherwise taken the time to discover, and made a Jewish kid from the suburbs think that maybe he could one day be cool like Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA. I’m so shocked and sad to hear of Adam Yauch’s passing that it’s hard to really put it into any other words than that.
