The Dudes Are Alright

Jason Diamond is a writer and editor who lives in New York City. He's the founder of Vol. 1 Brooklyn, and the editor of Jewcy.com. His writing has been published by The New York Times, The Paris Review, Vice, NPR.org, the A.V. Club, Tablet, The Rumpus, Thought Catalog, Impose, Miami New Times, and the Chicago Tribune. He’s currently at work on a book. He thinks it’s going to be awesome, and hopes that the book buying public does also.

These are a few of his favorite things.

  • I recently wrote a piece for The Paris Review on the (somewhat awkward, possibly short lived) marriage between literature and menswear.  As I was researching it, I visited over fifteen stores that used books as props in their showrooms.  I took pictures of all of them.  The one above is from outside Jack Spade.

  • I’ve got mixed feeling about this whole Frank Muytjens J. Crew jacket.  It’s a Dr. Zhivagoesque experiment that works out nicely.  A little Barbour (the collar) and a little Jack Kennedy tying his boat to the dock.  Kinda like it, but undecided. (Picture via New York Mag)

  • Fresh kicks: New Balance called on their retro roots (which are quite extensive, we imagine, since the company was founded in 1906) to design this vintage, toe-capped sneaker. Hoops, anyone? Canvas upper. Cotton terry lining. Sneaker inserts. Rubber sole with herringbone tread pattern. A Collector’s Item. USA. Catalog/jcrew.com only.  (Via J Crew)
