It feels like we’re a generation searching for some sort of authenticity,” said Jason Diamond, 31, a writer and founder of Volume 1 Brooklyn, a Brooklyn-based event production company and indie publishing imprint. He compares “the guy who’s never actually spent time in the forest wearing a Barbour jacket, or someone who’s never gone fishing wearing duck boots” to clothing stores that display stacks of well-read books and furbish their walls with reclaimed wood.
“These things seem inherently real to us, and they look really good,” said Diamond.
Comfort, he adds, may be another driving force — which seems to be something everyone can agree on, even self-proclaimed preps.

I have the Tattersall Sportsman dress shirt in every color. It’s inspired by the shirt that hunters would pick up on their way back into the big city after weekend expeditions in Maine.
I guess we can thank those hunters for something, because this is really one of the best shirts LL Bean makes, and they’re currently on sale for $30 bucks. I’d suggest buying them all.
